I’ve been searching for this video for the longest time and finally got a hold of it. Don’t expect any licks here, just Bill sharing some of his thoughts and approaches to playing, as well as performing some of his music with Joey Baron and Kermit Driscoll. Enjoy and remember, sharing is caring!

1 diciembre, 2012I think it’s a sin that Frisell has so few views on youtube. He is an innovator and does a lot of music that is accessible to a non-jazz audience. Oh well, I guess true «artistry» often does not get the mainstream attention that it deserves.

1 diciembre, 2012He holds his right hand thumb and first finger close together like he’s using a pick and fingers approach, but it sounds more like all fingers, no pick.

2 diciembre, 2012Do try this at home! It really works to get ‘inside’ a standard. I just sit there with a lead sheet and try to work out similar fragments – of course it doesn’t sound as good as Bill but you feel that it is doing your musicianship a whole lot of good
