1 agosto, 2013Hi ERIC LONG,
I’m not a 100% with all the resins yet as I have had things go wrong when using them especially when using coloured pen and as well on certain materials but overall they can speed up the tying of certain flies like buzzers..I prefer to use a very fine coat of the resin then I seal the fly with a light coat of varnish…
All the very best Davie

1 agosto, 2013Hi davie, using the diamond hard i ve found if u give it to much torch u end up with the resin turning white after it sets, have u had anything happen like that to u?it s a real pain as u have to go over it with black varnish to hide it and if u wanted a excample orange head ,well it defeats the purpose, saying that it those speed up the tying when u get it right, keep up the good work love your vids

1 agosto, 2013Hi Gytebekk,
Sorry about the delay in getting back to you as I’ve been away..I have caught rainbows, brown trout and grayling on this fly so it would be worth tying some…

1 agosto, 2013Hi Ryan Dunlap,
I haven’t tyed a bead on this pattern before but I think a black would be my choice though it would be worth while trying other colours as well…

1 agosto, 2013Hi jimmyb127,
I bought the peacock eyes from ebay a few years ago and they are the small feathers which come from the lower part of the tail, but to be honest I would say that the fibres length on the peacock herl I used is about average on most feathers..
All the best Davie

2 agosto, 2013Where do you find the peacock herl with such long fibers? is there a certain area on the bird i would find this longer herl?

2 agosto, 2013Hi ThePicturizer,
Yes just use the chinese hackles that you have as I do like these myself on many patterns both wet and dry and they still work. I wouldn’t use the coq-de-leon feathers though in the way you said..
All the very best Davie

2 agosto, 2013Hello Davie,
great fly as always! May I ask you one question? I have problems sometimes getting proper died hackle for my flies. Do you think
for this one chines cock hackle could be okay? Another idea is dying my pardo coq de Leon hen hackle with permanent marker, but I don’t know if that is a good idea.

2 agosto, 2013Hi JF,
You’re very kind to say this which I appreciate a lot…
I have used both the deer creek and the bug-bond for a while now and I like both. The main difference between them is that the bug-bond it more flexible when dry and suits applying to feathers where you need it, the deer creek dries much harder and works well with midge pupa like the pattern in the video but you can get both to work for you if it comes to it…
All the best Davie

2 agosto, 2013Hi, Davie. I consider myself blessed to have stumbled upon your work. I’ve learned and shared much over the last 12 months. Thank you!
With regard to UV resin. Any significant variance between Bug Bond, Diamond Hard and UV Knot Sense? Any specific application you prefer one over another?

2 agosto, 2013Hi Joe,
No don’t put your email address on here….I had a look for you on the internet and the only ones that I could find in stock were on ebay so I have just sent you a link to them…If you are going to search for then type in Bleached and dyed Peacock Feathers and you should be able to find somewhere close to you…All the best Davie

2 agosto, 2013Thanks, Davie. Do I put my email address on here? Also, what dyes do you use? I can’t ever get a good olive color when I dye materials.

2 agosto, 2013Hi, Davie
I love all your flies but this one really impressed me. What is your technique for bleaching and dying peacock herl? What dye do you use for olive?
Thanks again,
Joe
